Finch, who was born in the city of La Mirada, California. aged 5years old, started playing softball. Doug Finch's father, Doug was her first pitching instructor. Jennie began with the Finch Windmill, a device for arm strengthening and conditioning at age 10. As a high schooler, she threw six no-hitters, as well as 13 games that were perfect. She moved on to the University of Arizona where she was an All-American three times and first baseman.
